Pvt JAMES SHAW was a Private in the Revolutionary War.
Hon James Shaw was in the cavalry under Gen Sam Houston at the Battle of San Jacinto, making him a Texas hero. He was promoted to Lieutenant after this and eventually became a Senator for the Republic of Texas. His father John Shaw was a Captain in the War of 1812, and a representative of Clermont Co in the Ohio legislature.
Rev BETHUEL RIGGS was a Captain in the Revolutionary War. He was also a Baptist preacher who started at least three churches.
Gen Jonathan Riggs would have saved the life of Daniel Boone's grandson, if only that grandson had listened to his advice. For the full story, see the Callaway Massascre.
